遵循贴近企业、贴近生产、贴近工艺的原则，根据不同技术类别的特征，工业中心各类实训室分别按生产流程、工艺流程、技术流程来规划和布局。其先进的实训教学设备、现代化企业的管理方法、真实或仿真的工业氛围成为培养学生实践能力、孕育现代企业意识、熟悉技术规范、掌握行业标准、全面提高职业素质的理想环境。2001年4月，工业中心通过了教育部组织的优秀校内实践教学基地评估，成为我国高职院校中首家具有示范性质的实践教学基地。在校长俞仲文教授主持下，我们承担了教育部"高职高专教育实践教学体系、基地建设与改革的研究与实践"课题，对高职教育实践教学涉及到的诸多方面进行了卓有成效的理论与实践研究，该课题研究成果荣获2004年广东省教学成果一等奖和2005年国家级教学成果一等奖。

    1995年成立至今，工业中心先后受到国务院总理温家宝、副总理李岚清、国务委员陈至立、教育部长周济以及各省市级领导的亲临指导；接纳了全国数百所院校数万人次的参观访问。其建设理念、功能定位、运行与管理模式为我国许多高职院校所借鉴。

The Industrial Training Centre within the campus of Shenzhen Polytechnic is a multifunctional teaching and learning base with a combination of practical training and vocational instruction, vocational training and testing, the training of vocational education teachers and development, academic research and application, new technology application and promotion. With the development of more than ten years, the area of the Industrial Training Centre is up to 80000 square meters and total value of equipments is 0.337 billion. In addition to the above, there are 26 training workshops and 106 branch raining workshops in the Centre.

Keeping enterprises, production and craftsmanship in mind, The training centres have been planned and arranged according to production procedures, arts and crafts, technology, and specific types of classification. With its advanced facilities, management and operation of enterprises, the Industrial Training Centre helps students to develop their vocational potentials under work simulated environment and become creative, progressive, and practical professionals. We also emphasize the learners’ awareness in technical standards, quality control, and teamwork in modern enterprises. In 2001, the Industrial Training Centre was acknowledged as an excellent practical training centre by the Ministry of Education, thus becoming an example of a practical teaching and learning base well-known throughout the country. Led by the president and professor Yu Zhongwen, we undertook the practical teaching research topic of tertiary vocational education, establishment of teacher training bases for vocational education and reform. We were awarded the first teaching research prize in Gungdong Province in 2004 and the first national teaching research prize given by The Ministry of Education in 2005.

From 1995 to now, Premier Wen Jiabao ,Vice-Premier Li Lanqing, Chen Zhili, Commissioner of State Department ,Zhou Ji ,Minister of State Ministry of Education, and leaders of many provinces and cities have surveyed the Centre. And over ten thousands teachers from several hundreds colleges have visited the Centre. The idea of the construction, the orientation of its function, operation and the mode of its management have been referenced from many vocational colleges.
